Environmental Writing

Montana Wilderness Association

As someone who values the outdoors, I know the importance of wild land. That's why when I had the opportunity to intern with Montana Wilderness Association for a summer I was thrilled. I spent the summer researching public lands, hiking trails in those areas, and then blogging about the land's importance. This is one of the blog posts I wrote about my favorite hike in the Jewel Basin, in Northwest Montana.

Protect Our Public Lands

The truth is, not everyone understands the importance of public lands like I do. That is why I love educating people on the importance of our public lands, and advocating for their protection. This is a digital story I created on that very basis. The story was written when Grand Staircase - Escalate and Bears Ears National Monuments were reduced in size, and uses their reduction as a way to fight for the protection of all public lands.

Environmental Perspectives

I spent a semester researching the different environmental perspectives that exist, and how they have changed over time. This involved reading great works from the most admired environmentalists such as John Muir and Rachel Carson. My research culminated in this essay. As someone who is passionate about the outdoors, this essay was a refreshing reminder of the people and groups that have fought, or are still fighting, to save the lands we love most.
